There are a variety of herbs and supplements that can help with blood pressure management. This list is not exhaustive (I’ll write more on this in the future), but some of these include:
- Garlic: Studies have shown that garlic can help lower blood pressure, especially in people with high blood pressure.
- Hawthorn: Hawthorn extract has been traditionally used to treat heart conditions, including high blood pressure.
- Omega-3 fatty acids: Found in fish oil supplements, omega-3 fatty acids have been linked to lower blood pressure.
- Cinnamon: Some research suggests that cinnamon can help reduce blood pressure, especially in people with type 2 diabetes.
- Magnesium: Magnesium supplements have been shown to help lower blood pressure in people with high blood pressure.
- Folate: Studies have found that folate supplements can help reduce blood pressure, particularly in people with high blood pressure.
- Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10): Preliminary research indicates that CoQ10 supplements may help lower blood pressure, but more studies are needed to confirm these findings.
- Potassium: Increasing potassium intake through diet or supplements can help reduce blood pressure. Foods rich in potassium include bananas, sweet potatoes, and spinach.
