One-month emergency food supplement

This package is designed to greatly expand what you can do with your one-month emergency food supply.  Again, I am not selling anything here and the package is for example only.  Tailor the products to your particular taste and needs.

You may have noticed that the one-month emergency food supply example I provided earlier, while very inexpensive and easy to obtain, does not allow for much variety in your diet.  Don’t get me wrong — if the time comes that you need it, then you will be very happy to have it.

However, the next step is to add some supplemental items to your food supply to allow you to enjoy your food more.  That’s what this example package is designed for.  My choices were made based on price, availability, and shelf life.

This package is designed to service one adult for one month, but in reality it could just as well take care of two adults who are somewhat careful in their consumption.

My suggestions include:

  • Soy Sauce – great with all that rice, or as a flavoring in soups.
  • Louisiana Hot Sauce – an inexpensive way to spice up your food.
  • Garlic Powder – you can never have too much garlic.
  • Chili Powder – great for a South Western style rice-and-beans dish.
  • Disposable Salt & Pepper Shakers – a convenient way to season your food.
  • Chicken Bouillon – an easy way to flavor soups, or to drink as a broth.
  • Beef Bouillon – an easy way to flavor soups, or to drink as a broth.
  • Instant Coffee – long shelf life, nice way to keep the caffeine going without a coffee pot.
  • Tea Bags – vacuum seal them, if you can.  Nothing is better than a nice cup of tea, plus tea bags are said to be useful for relieving pink eye, canker sores, minor cuts, boils, and insect bites.
  • Coconut oil – Keeps at room temperature and can be used as a substitute for butter, lard, or shortening in recipes which call for those.
  • Ghee – a shelf stable butter product to add that buttery flavor to breads, biscuits, noodles, rice, or whatever.

When you are ready to be a little more adventurous, you can look up how to make and store your own ghee.

You should be able to get these items at your local grocery store.  When I priced them at Walmart on May 12, 2022, the total cost was $31.40, or $23.28 without the Ghee.

All of these items should fit into one bin.  Store it right next to your emergency food supply so everything is in one place.

I will also be posting suggestions for a deluxe supplement package, with even more flavor options, and a protein supplement package.  I’ll link them here when they are ready.
