The Pantry Watch Update has only one price increase to report this week.
Great Value white eggs have risen from 2.62 to 3.23 per dozen, a 25% increase. Multi-dozen packs have risen proportionally. I had thought that egg prices had finally stabilized and stock was looking good in local stores, but obviously there is still a lot of movement left in this commodity.
Beef is widely available locally and many stores have it on sale for prices we haven’t seen since Fall of 2021.
Chicken breast is still priced high and has limited availability. Other cuts of chicken appear to be widely available, with one local store selling chicken quarters for 69 cents per pound.
Locally, I am seeing lots of sales on cucumbers, tomatoes, strawberries, and sweet corn at relatively reasonable prices.
Local stocks of the following foods are still low, but available in at least some brands:
- Coffee
- Tuna
- Peanut Butter
- Bottled Water
- Pasta
Great Value cornmeal is back in stock on-line after a long absence. It is priced at $2.52 per 5lb package.
Prices of sugar and flour have remained stable following their large jump last week.
